First-time Manager
HybridFirst-Time Manager Excellence is a practical, experiential leadership program designed to help new managers successfully transition from individual contributor to people leader. The program focuses on the real challenges first-time managers face every day—managing former peers, setting expectations, giving feedback, handling difficult conversations, resolving conflicts, making fair decisions, building trust, and creating accountability within the team. Rather than being a theory-driven leadership workshop, the program uses real workplace scenarios, case studies, role plays, activities, videos, and practical leadership frameworks to help participants practise the behaviours required to lead effectively. Key areas covered - The transition from Individual Contributor to Manager - Manager vs. Leader mindset - Building trust and psychological safety - Setting expectations and creating accountability - Giving and receiving feedback - Handling difficult conversations - Conflict management - Emotional intelligence for managers - Managing bias in workplace decisions - Delegation and empowering team members

Program Overview
Great individual contributors are not automatically great managers. People are often promoted into management because they excel at their individual roles, but the skills required to lead people are very different from the skills required to perform a role well. The transition from Individual Contributor to People Leader brings a new set of challenges—building trust, communicating effectively, managing performance, handling difficult conversations, and creating accountability without micromanaging. First-Time Manager Excellence is a highly interactive and practical leadership program designed to help new and aspiring managers make this transition with greater confidence and effectiveness. The program focuses on helping managers: - Build trust and credibility with their teams - Communicate with clarity, empathy, and confidence - Lead diverse and multicultural teams - Coach and develop people rather than simply direct them - Handle difficult conversations and conflicts effectively - Create psychological safety within their teams - Improve employee engagement and ownership - Build accountability without micromanagement - Make the shift from doing the work to enabling others to succeed Rather than relying on theory-heavy learning, the program uses real workplace situations, case studies, role plays, discussions, reflection, videos, and hands-on activities. Participants get opportunities to practise how they would respond to situations they are likely to encounter as managers. The objective is simple: help first-time managers move from knowing what good leadership looks like to actually practising it in their everyday interactions with their teams.
